From the Pastor: Further Reflections on Tithing and Giving
Last week’s sermon on tithing and offerings might have been difficult to hear, especially for those of you who are struggling financially right now. So I wanted to take this time in Lifeline to clarify a few questions that some of you might be asking. Click here to read more in the Lifeline newsletter.

New Life Sermon Podcast Now Available
What is a Podcast?
Podcasting is a form of audio broadcasting over the Internet. The term "Podcast" is derived from the acronym "Pod" – standing for "Portable on Demand" – and "broadcast". You can use your portable MP3 player, such as an iPod, Zune or iRiver, or personal computer to subscribe and listen to podcasts. In this case, Pastor Bob's sermons are now syndicated online as a Podcast that you can subscribe to.
How do I find and subscribe to the New Life Sermon Podcast?
There are a couple ways to find and utilize the New Life Podcast. The easiest is to open iTunes and search for "New Life Presbyterian". From there you can select our Podcast and subscribe to it (for free of course). That's it, now it will automatically update whenever new sermons are posted.
You may also click here to subscribe through iTunes. If you don't have iTunes you may download it for free.
Thirdly, you may choose to subscribe to the RSS feed. The link for this is: http://www.newlife-pc.org/media/podcast.php.

Please contact Eric Clark if you have any questions or problems with the New Life Podcast.
"The Gospel and Everyday Life" Sunday School Series Continues
Why is it sometimes so hard to know exactly how the Gospel applies to our everyday lives? If the Gospel is so central and life-changing, then shouldn’t it affect our friendships, marriages, jobs and leisure lives? Shouldn’t it be more than just something to which we give lip service on Sunday mornings and during our weekly Bible study?
These are the kinds of questions we will attempt to answer in our adult Sunday School series – “The Gospel and Everyday Life.” This will be a good series to which you could invite friends and family members who might have questions about these areas of life in which all of us have struggled to find answers and to remain faithful to Christ. Join us at 10am on Sunday mornings!

Monthly Prayer Meeting Wednesday May 6
On the first Wednesday of each month, we will meet for prayer. Our plan is to meet in the church sanctuary for one hour (6-7pm) to corporately pray to God. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 6. We will focus on praying for the building expansion plans. Mark this on your calendar and join us as we seek God’s will for New Life.
Membership Class on May 9 & 10
If you are interested in becoming a member of New Life, or if you would simply like to learn more about our church or the PCA denomination, please sign up in the foyer for our next New Member class. The first part of the class will be held on Friday, May 9 from 6:30pm to 9pm, and the second part will be Saturday, May 10 from 9:30am to noon. Participation in the class does not obligate you to become a member. Please see Pastor Bob with questions.
New Life Beautification Project
The Events Committee is planning a work day at the church on May 10 from 9am to 3pm. This will involve landscaping work and interior projects, including spring cleaning. There is a need for donations of plants, especially any perennial starts that you might be able to provide from your own home garden. Check out the display in the church foyer for more information and to sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Karleen Wittman.
Join the New Life Men’s Chorus
Men, do you like to sing? Even if you can't carry a tune in a bucket you are encouraged to attend the next practice session for the Men's Chorus on Thursday evening, May 22 at 7pm at the church.
Summer Sermon Series
to Consider Your Questions
Last summer we had a good time covering questions you submitted to me for a Q&A sermon series. We covered topics such as prayer, work, tithing, and more. I will be starting another Q&A series soon, so I again need you to send me your questions. Here’s the plan: give some thought to a theological, ethical or Biblical issue on which you would like some clarification, or that you would simply like to see addressed from the pulpit. Try to consider topics that would not only be interesting to you, but which you think might be helpful for the wider community at New Life as well.
This is not an opportunity to try to stump the pastor! Nor is it an opportunity to explore extremely narrow or obscure subjects. Some examples of appropriate topics might include the following: inerrancy of the Bible; living as a Christian in the workplace; God’s future plan for Israel; the timing and nature of Jesus’ return; how were people in the Old Testament saved?
I will examine the submissions and begin preaching the new series in June. I invite anyone to submit your ideas, whether you are young or old, member or non-member of New Life. Simply write your idea on a piece of paper and either give it to me, or put it in the white “Survey” box in the foyer. You can also email your ideas to me here. Please submit your questions soon so that I may begin working on this series. - Pastor Bob
Reclaim “Date Nights”
Ever wish you and your spouse could just get away on a Friday evening? Long for some quality time at home, just the two of you? Dorinda Guinn is offering babysitting in her home Friday late afternoons and evenings as she tries to drum up financial support for the upcoming Monterrey Mission trip. These services will be available from now through the end of May. Please contact Dorinda Guinn if you’d like to get on the schedule. Cost: freewill offerings.
How to Pray for Our “Joining Together” Building Campaign
1). Pray that God’s Spirit would move hearts to give generously, sacrificially, and cheerfully (2 Cor. 8:1-3; 9:6-7).
2). Pray that our leaders would lean not on their understanding, but would trust the Lord to make our paths straight (Prov. 3:5-6).
3). Pray that God would use the new facility to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to trust Jesus Christ for salvation and to obey everything he has commanded(Mat. 28:19-20).
4). Pray that we would keep our eyes always on the glory of God, so that our excitement would be for his kingdom, and not ours (Ps. 115:1).
How Can You Help the Monterrey Team?
You can hire one of the youth group kids to help with you a chore! Whether it’s painting, moving boxes, spreading mulch, or babysitting, there is plenty these kids can do. You can hire the whole group, or individuals. You name your price. Contact Adam or Jessy if you are interested.
You can also help raise money every time you do a search on the internet. Go to www.goodsearch.com and type in "New Life Church" as the ministry you want to support. Every search earns the team 1 cent. If everyone in the church uses this search engine, the team could receive a couple hundred dollars. Tell your friends and family about it too!
