Our Vision
We want God’s kingdom to spread throughout Muncie and Yorktown as ordinary people are empowered for extraordinary living by the power of the Gospel.
Our Commitments
New Life Presbyterian Church is an evangelical reformed Presbyterian church. By evangelical, we mean that we are committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as humankind’s only hope for salvation. By reformed, we mean that we emphasize the grace of God in the Gospel, the sovereignty of God, the unity of God’s redemptive story, the work of God through the sacraments, and the authority of God in Scripture. By Presbyterian, we mean that Christ rules local congregations through a group of elders who are elected by the people and accountable to regional and national bodies. New Life’s denominational affiliation is with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). For more detailed information on our doctrinal commitments, see the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Our Core Values
Our core values are expressed through adoration, belonging, compassion, discipleship, and evangelism. Each of these five areas is outlined below, along with references to supporting Scripture.
Adoration
We believe the Gospel enables us to have a personal relationship with our Creator, so we want New Life to be a place where our frantic lives are redirected toward Spirit-led worship (Hebrews 12:28; John 4:23). Therefore, we intend Sunday worship to be a rich encounter with the living God through singing (old and new songs), prayer, hearing God’s word, and the sacraments.
Belonging
We believe the Gospel connects us to others, so we want New Life to be a place where you feel welcome, and where no one feels ashamed of his/her brokenness. Therefore, we offer life groups, supper groups and other activities to establish and strengthen bonds of friendship and love (Galatians 3:26-28; Ephesians 4:15-16).
Compassion
We believe the Gospel motivates us to serve the world (Acts 1:8), so we want New Life to be a place where you can employ your passions and talents to participate in God’s transforming work in Muncie, Yorktown and beyond. Therefore, we look for ways to turn outwardly the resources that the Holy Spirit brings inwardly to New Life (Philippians 2:15; Matthew 5:13-16; Isaiah 58:10).
Discipleship
We believe the Gospel is not just the ABC’s of Christianity, but the A-to-Z of the faith (Colossians 1:6), so we want New Life to be a place where you and your children can learn intensively about the person and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we emphasize Biblical preaching, doctrinal seriousness and careful reflection on how Scripture relates to day-to-day life (Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 4:2-3).
Evangelism
We believe the Gospel has the power to change lives (Romans 1:16), just as it has changed ours. Therefore, we seek to proclaim the Gospel to others (Romans 10:14), yet with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15), and with hope that those outside the church may know the joy of a relationship with Christ.
